Daniel founded Deceptively Social Gaming in 2018 (along with Amber Wedig and Nick Keith) out of the ashes of a prior organization with one desire – create a group run by (and designed for) its players and moderators.  Daniel began his love for social deception in 2013, moderating for two years at Gen Con before taking over event administration.  His strengths lie in strategy and planning, and he uses a focused, tireless approach to solving problems and setting his Board up for success.  The “big bald scary guy” of DSG is easy to spot and can always be found, with a big smile on his face, interacting with event attendees and his support teams.  He never lies (this is a fact); thankfully, no one he plays Vanilla Werewolf with ever remembers this.

Daniel is a 30+ year restaurant industry veteran, working in project management and financial analysis.  He resides in the Dallas/Ft Worth area with his incredible wife Polly, who can also be found working at our events.  He is a foodie (and thankfully, Polly is an incredible culinary genius) and looks forward to delicious chef-crafted meals anywhere he goes.  He loves to travel abroad and is a cat dad with two wonderful rescues.

Joshua Wien
Board Member
jwien@deceptivelysocial.com

Josh is a longtime tabletop gaming enthusiast, organizer, and community-builder with a passion for bringing people together through games. With deep experience in event logistics, volunteer coordination, and community growth, he focuses on making sure games are not only fun, but welcoming, accessible, and well-run.

As a board member of Deceptively Social Gaming, Josh is especially interested in strengthening infrastructure behind the scenes—supporting volunteers, improving systems, and helping DSG scale sustainably while keeping the heart of the community intact. When he’s not plotting better ways to herd gamers, he’s usually working on creative projects, tech ventures, or finding new ways to make nerdy things even better.
